In 1959 , Leonardo Servadio, a great skiing and tennis enthusiast, decided to found Ellesse. The company takes its name from its founder 's initials, and the logo represents a tennis ball encircled by a pair of skis. Initially, production is basically based on technical trousers, but in a short time expands its offer with the introduction of a casual clothing line and a sports line. In 1993, the company was sold to the Pentland Group.
